J. P. Sartre: No Exit

/

The project consists of a collaboration of the book-object and the animated film on the same topic — the theatre play No Exit by J. P. Sartre. Main characters (Garcin, Estelle and Inez) are punished by being locked into a room together for eternity. They discover that they are stuck in eternity of hell to be one another's torturers. Through the connection of the book and the animation, the reader (or onlooker) should experience existential ideas of the Jean Paul Sartre. The book is a secret little object (80x120 mm). The paper-knife is bound to the index of the book, which is wrap around the book and stick to the magnet-book-cover. Book is designed as an interactive instrument. The reader has to tear apart first chapter of the book with the paper knife, to enter the room of Sartre’s hell and to be able to start the reading the book. On the back cover of the book is "Ticket to the hell" with qr-code and link to website, where the reader (or onlooker) can watch the password protected animated film No Exit.

No Exit 2015

/

Animated film No Exit is a trailer for the book No Exit, where main characters confirm their sins from their previous life. Animated film is searching for it’s experimental form of expression to show atmosphere of Sartre’s hell. Instead of usually used narrated dialogue there is a typography which cooperates with the image. Especially for the animated film was made experimental music by Rory Greenaway to boost oddly, unusual feelings and feeling of uneasiness.
